Tracking Device Saves Workers Blushes
An employee at a vehicle tracking company had reason to be grateful to the service after he locked himself out of his car.
Julian Lewis, who works for CMS SupaTrak, based at Cheney Manor, was relieved when the company realised he was in difficulty and summoned help. Julian was travelling back to his home in Wiltshire after a day of national customer visits, when he took a hands-free call from one of his colleagues.
The information that his colleague needed was in the boot of his car, so he pulled over at the side of a dual carriageway and asked her to wait while he got the information she required. But when he shut the door the car locked itself leaving the phone, with his colleague at the other end of the line, inside the car and the engine still running.
Sat in front of her computer, back in the office, the colleague logged into the SupaTrak vehicle tracking map and she could immediately locate Julian. As she could get no response from him and the vehicle was not moving, she realised he must have locked himself out of the car.
The company launched a rescue mission and another colleague went out to the location of his vehicle where they found Julian standing outside his vehicle, in the cold and contemplating smashing the windows to get back into his car.
Company marketing manager, Kate Lloyd said: "If we ever needed a perfect advertisement for our product this was it. It was a perfect example of how important a vehicle tracking solution can be, to keep you and your employees safe at all times and exercise your duty of care obligations."
