Geesink Norba Go Green with CMS SupaTrak
In early 2009, following a customer recommendation, Geoff Rigg, UK Business Director for Geesink Norba contacted CMS SupaTrak to the development of “greener” technology, which would lead to a reduction in vehicle fuel costs and lower carbon emissions. He wanted to enable his customers to not only make these reductions, but also measure their savings. After discussing the CMS SupaTrak portfolio of products, the award winning EcoTrak fuel saving technology appeared to match Geoff’s requirements perfectly. After initial consultations with CMS SupaTrak, Geoff decided to install EcoTrak into Geesink Norba’s three demonstration vehicles. This sample included the recently launched plug-in electric waste vehicle, which has recently scooped a top green honour by winning the prestigious Vehicle of the Year title at the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management’s (CIWM) Awards for Environmental Excellence. The innovative battery powered vehicle, which was launched in the UK in May 2009, was designed to meet three key objectives; reducing diesel consumption and carbon emissions and cutting energy costs for operators. Geoff Rigg exaplains that “telemetry plays an increasingly important role in managing fleets and individual vehicles more efficiently to save fuel and reduce the carbon footprint and the systems we have produced with CMS SupaTrak further reinforce our position as the provider of the greenest waste management solutions in Europe.” Initial measurement trials carried out by CMS SupaTrak using EcoTrak on the plug-in vehicle have suggested a fuel saving of up to 35 per cent. Due to the success of the initial trials on Geesink Norba vehicles in the UK, CMS SupaTrak have now been selected as the exclusive supplier of vehicle body telemetry solutions for Geesink Norba throughout the UK and Central Europe. Jason Airey, Managing Director for CMS SupaTrak explains that “We have built a strong working relationship with Geesink Norba over the past year. We are helping them to deliver a manageable solution to their customers, who will benefit from the cost savings that can be achieved.” Commenting on the success of EcoTrak fuel saving technology in the Waste and Recycling industry, Jason says that “Interest has been intense as the industry comes under pressure to become even greener whilst reducing costs and improving efficiency. We are confident that we can help businesses achieve this and our customers using EcoTrak are all seeing the benefits of the solution.” The Geesink Norba Group specialises in one-stop solutions for a wide range of waste management needs and is the largest provider of refuse collection vehicles in Europe today. They offer a complete line of waste management vehicles and static and portable compactors to meet an increasing variety of applications.
