Caution over Lib Dem Policies

CMS Supatrak are advising fleet bosses to exercise caution over the Liberal Democrat's policies with respect to road transport. The party have become the surprise leaders in the election campaign, however, according to Supatrak, their rise to power may not be good news for companies which operate large fleets of vehicles.

Liberal Democrat policy on transport appears to be in favour of reducing traffic by implementing improved  bus services and investing in new high speed rail links. The bad news, however, is that this would be funded by revenue generated by increased taxation on lorries. Despite this, the party plans to abolish vehicle excise duty and reduce fuel duty, although there is nothing in the party's manifesto regarding car tax.

Therefore, fleet bosses are being urged to consider carefully before voting this Thursday, as a spokesperson for CMS Supatrak explains:

“After Nick Clegg's impressive television performances recently, it is no surprise that the Lib Dems are performing well in the opinion polls. Whilst many of their policies may be good news for the transport industry, their policy of funding new transport networks with increased taxation on lorries would undoubtedly have a massive impact on many of our clients.”

Continued:

“We would advise that people consider the policies of all of the political parties in order to see what impact they would have on the day-to-day running of their business.”
