Avoid the Traffic with SupaTrak
Swindon based telematics solutions company, CMS SupaTrak, are now able to offer their customers integrated traffic alerts with their vehicle tracking services. SupaTrak users now have the ability to view live traffic information via the web based real time SupaTrak mapping service, which is updated every 5 minutes, as standard.
The live traffic information service has been added to the CMS SupaTrak portfolio of vehicle and asset tracking solutions to help businesses keep moving. It provides traffic information to help fleet and transport managers direct their drivers to avoid congestion and long delays.
Jason Airey, Managing Director of CMS SupaTrak comments; “This is an additional tool for businesses to use to keep their vehicles moving and avoid costly traffic jams. The DfT initiative, Freight Best Practice, states that engine idling uses the equivalent of two litres of fuel per hour. Across a fleet of vehicles, idling in traffic soon becomes a costly business.”
Each traffic alert is displayed using an appropriate icon to represent the type of incident that has occurred. By hovering over the alert, which is displayed on the SupaTrak mapping system, a brief description of the incident, including the reason for the delay and the area which it is affecting is displayed. For ease of planning, if a section of road is affected, as opposed to just one specific location, the affected part of the road will be highlighted.
Additional features that will be available to users in the New Year include integrated route planning and journey restrictions, such as bridge dimensions which will help fleet and transport managers to optimise their driving routes for their specific fleet.
SupaTrak is a web-based vehicle and asset tracking solution which enables real time fleet visibility with updates every 60 seconds as standard. Other solutions include JobTrak; job
allocation and scheduling for mobile workers and EcoTrak; fuel saving technology which, using CANbus technology is saving businesses in the UK and Ireland up to 20% of their fuel costs.
