Paul Ireland Electrical
SupaTrak, the vehicle tracking system developed by CMS SupaTrak of Swindon, is increasingly proving the perfect solution for a diverse range of companies wishing to control, monitor and protect their mobile assets.
One recent convert to the SupaTrak system is Suffolk-based Paul Ireland Electrical, which has units fitted to multiple vehicles and uses it to perform a variety of tasks that help to ensure its many customers get the service they require.
Paul Ireland Electrical found out about SupaTrak by searching the Internet for tracking systems and was delighted to discover everything it subsequently wanted to know about the system could be discussed over the phone with a CMS member of staff. Simple clear advice was given with a very informative interactive on-line demonstration with no high pressure sales techniques.
The company provides a variety of timed-response electrical maintenance services to commercial premises, residential householders and the National Trust.
SupaTrak helps it plan and record engineers’ time sheets and allows it to see where engineers are at any given time when an emergency call comes in. The system is particularly useful in its work for local Housing Associations, which encompass around 10,000 dwellings and generate around 40 maintenance calls a day, plus a number of emergency callouts.
As well as making sure engineers take the shortest route to a job and helping them to find customers premises quickly using SupaTrak’s post code locator facility, the system’s recording ability also helps Paul Ireland justify charges for calls where the customer is not in.
“One of the greatest benefits of SupaTrak is when we schedule a call at a pre-set time and the customer is not in. It enables us to prove when necessary that the engineer made the call at the given time and thus disprove any subsequent customer claim that they were in but that we did not call,” comments Paul Ireland.
“If we cannot disprove the customer’s claim we cannot charge for the call. Since installing SupaTrak, which shows a clear record of where each vehicle has been and when, we have been able to save around £500 worth of overbooking per vehicle per month, which adds up to a considerable amount of money that would otherwise have been lost. In this regard alone SupaTrak more than pays its way,” he adds.
Paul Ireland Electrical also saves money and time by plotting all its suppliers and wholesalers onto the SupaTrak system. Now, whenever parts are needed, it can quickly direct the engineer to the nearest stockist of the required part, increasing each engineer’s productivity by reducing the time taken to locate and source it.
As this company’s experience demonstrates, SupaTrak is clearly much more than just a tracking device and as many customers are now finding out its uses are only limited by their imagination. Low cost and user friendly, the system updates a vehicle’s position every 60 seconds, whilst the centrally-hosted UK mapping facility ensures all vehicles are visible at all times. SupaTrak also comes with a comprehensive reporting function that includes start/stop and historic ‘history trail’ options, so users can see where their vehicles have been, when and at what speed.
Add in some of the other available options such as satellite navigation, telemetry recorders and full European mapping, together with the ability to link SupaTrak to a company’s existing collection devices and back office systems and you have a totally integrated, secure system capable of many additional operational tasks.
But most importantly, its simple, it works, can communicate with almost anything and is cost effective to use, with no ties to long-term contracts.
